American-Beninese model and actor, Djimon Gaston Hounsou, started his career in music videos and later appeared in the 1990 American musical comedy film, Without You I’m Nothing. He acquired widespread recognition for his role in the 1997 American historical drama, Amistad — a film that was directed by Steven Spielberg. He also received several nominations, including three Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
